Both are plain-text tabular formats. CSV (comma-separated) uses commas as delimiters and requires quoting fields that contain commas. TSV (tab-separated) uses tabs, which rarely appear in data, eliminating most quoting needs. TSV is simpler to parse but less portable.

Fields containing commas must be wrapped in double quotes. If the field also contains double quotes, those are escaped by doubling them (""). This tool handles this automatically when "Quote fields with commas" is enabled.
