Frequently Asked Questions

This tool supports numbers up to 999 quadrillion (999,999,999,999,999,999). That covers: ones, thousands, millions, billions, trillions, and quadrillions. Numbers beyond that will show an error.
Cardinal numbers count quantity (one, two, three). Ordinal numbers indicate position or rank (first, second, third). Enable the "Ordinal" toggle to convert numbers like 1 to "first", 2 to "second", 21 to "twenty-first", etc.
By default, decimals are converted as "X and Y tenths/hundredths/etc." (e.g. 1.5 → "one and five tenths"). Enable the "Point" toggle to use the spoken "point" style instead (e.g. 1.5 → "one point five").
